11 types of pleasant scents that are still effective against insects

Mosquitoes are annoying wherever they appear. In addition to the itchy irritation on the skin, mosquitoes are also dangerous animals as they transmit many diseases to humans, as well as between people. There are many ways to kill mosquitoes such as mosquito scents, insect sprays, … but these products create a strong scent and even contain chemicals. So let’s see how to create scents that both help repel mosquitoes and still be comfortable to use.

Vanilla powder

Mix vanilla powder with baby lotion at a ratio of 1-10 and apply on all exposed parts of the body. People can also dissolve vanilla in water, then spray the mixture on exposed skin and clothing.

Essential oil, cloves, basil, eucalyptus

The essential oils of anise, cloves, basil and eucalyptus all make mosquitoes uncomfortable and fly away. People can apply diluted oils to the exposed skin (5-10 drops per glass of water) or spray them on a heat source such as a heater or diffuser of essential oils. Alternatively a cotton ball can be dipped in oil and placed on a window sill.

Elderflower branches

Placing elderflower in the room will keep mosquitoes away. But besides that, the strong smell of elderflower can disrupt sleep, so it’s best for everyone to bring them out of the bedroom at night.

Add 5g of cloves along with a glass of water and boil them for 15 minutes. Mix 10 drops of this concoction with 1 tablespoon of any cologne and apply the mixture to exposed areas of your body. And so people can stay outdoors for at least 2 hours without any insects coming near us.

Juniper branches

If people have a night of camping with a warm fire and don’t want to be disturbed by insects, add a few juniper branches to it.

Cedar essential oil

The smell of cedar oil not only repels mosquitoes, but also flies and cockroaches.

Sage grass

No insect can touch us if we wash the body with sage root water. People need to add a handful of chopped roots to 0.4 liters of water, boil and let soak for 20-30 minutes.

Chrysanthemum mi

Chamomile is a long-standing natural remedy against mosquitoes. The flowers, stems and dried leaves of the chamomile can be ground into powder and will affect the nerve cells of the insect. People just put a few small bouquets of flowers around the house and let them do their best.

Wheat grass

In ancient times, people used wheat grass roots to repel mosquitoes and other blood-sucking insects. Add a handful of chopped wheatgrass roots to 0.4 liters of water and boil 3 times to turn the water a light yellow color. Then everyone wash their faces and hands with this water, and not a single mosquito will come.

Basil leaves

People can use chopped basil leaves and flowers or cherry blossoms. Place them in the room or rub them on exposed areas of the body to keep insects away.

Cooking oil, shampoo and vinegar

To make an effective mosquito and fly repellent, people will need cooking oil, shampoo and 9% vinegar. Mix these ingredients in equal proportions and stir thoroughly until white foam appears. People can spray this mixture on their body or pour it into a container and leave it open.

Vinegar repels insects, strong-smelling shampoos and cooking oils are the base of any cream. This solution is safe for both children and does not have a strong odor.
