On October 10, in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee cooperated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize a ceremony to announce the completion of the project to bring the national grid to Nhon Chau island commune by underground cable. This is one of the important projects of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), represented by the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) as the investor’s representative.
Delegates performed the ceremony of energizing the project to bring the national grid electricity to Nhon Chau island commune.
According to EVNCPC, the project to bring the national grid to Nhon Chau island commune by underground cable has 4 main items, including installation of 22 kV output compartment at Song Cau 110kV substation (Phu Yen province) and 22kV line above. the mainland in Song Cau town is more than 12 km long; to build a new 22 kV submarine cable line single-stranded across the sea, more than 10 km in length, connecting from the 22 kV Hoa An cutting station, Xuan Hoa commune, Song Cau town to Nhon Chau island commune; to build a power grid on Nhon Chau island and build a fiber-optic cable system of more than 12 km long connecting the mainland to the island in order to serve the people, manage and operate the power grid.
The project has a total investment of more than VND 351 billion, of which the European Union (EU) grants 280 billion VND, the rest is the reciprocal capital of EVNCPC. In order for the people of Nhon Chau island commune to use the national grid electricity stably, the power sector has invested nearly 600 million VND / household on the island.

According to Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee, the completion of the project is an important milestone for Nhon Chau island commune. From now on, the island commune has been provided with a stable, complete, high-quality power source, ready to serve all production, business and living needs of the people on the island.
Nhon Chau is a pre-pepper island commune with a particularly important strategic position in defense – security and marine economic development in Binh Dinh province. Nhon Chau island commune currently has about 600 households with more than 2,500 people living by fishing and aquaculture.

Before the national power grid, island residents were only powered by diesel generators for eight hours a day and night. Unstable power source, infrequently affecting the work of ensuring national defense and security, economic development on the island.
